In March (2008), Linda Wells and two wonderful dancers from Belhaven College went as a small dance team to work alongside other missionaries in Birmingham, England.  This outreach was designed to reach out to a Muslim section of the city.  Linda, Lydia and Kim had an incredible time ministering!

“I realized soon after arriving that I had a lot of prejudices against Muslims which I was unaware of.  Because I was unprepared to be working with Muslims, I was quite frightened.  But during the week my outlook changed.  Going door to door and talking with Muslims opened my eyes to the fact that they are God’s beautiful, precious creations too, and that He loves them too.  I was especially moved by spending time with children after school in a local park where we made balloon animals and talked with them.”  Lydia

“Thursday afternoon, we were preparing to go to a local park and do some children’s activities.  Suddenly there was a large procession of young Muslim men walking down the street with flags, yelling and celebrating Mohammed’s birthday.  There was a real sense of spiritual darkness.  It was quite intimidating!  As a team we decided to go to the park, and we went singing the song “Shine Jesus Shine.”  While there, a large group of children gathered around us.  We were kept so busy making balloon animals for all the children.  In spite of the Muslim Celebration, we were able to put a smile on the faces of so many children.  What a great day!" Kimberly

Linda had an incredible encounter with a woman who’s husband had committed suicide:
“During our dance workshop, a lady named Joan (not real name) came into the church and danced all night.  She had just been through a very traumatic event and she was devastated.  As I shared with her how dance had helped me get through a deep period of depression, she said to me; ‘God told me to come to this church today and now I know why.  I believe God is calling me to teach dance to Muslim women using Christian music.’” Linda
