Linda and three other dancers went to Albania in July to participate in an Arts Challenge. The dancers worked with artists and musicians to present the gospel in a unique way to the people of Albania. They painted at a hospital, put on a kids camp, taught workshops and organized an arts festival. The people of Albania were very receptive and loved the dancing!
In Linda's words: Albania was amazing. In spite of no water or electricity for eight hours The arts festival was quiet a success! An OM woman, Suela, who is from Lushnje, Albania, said many people came who don't normally come to church functions, so that was extremely encouraging. The night before the festival Laura, one of the other dancers, taught a hip-hop class and MANY people participated (especially teenagers). Laura did a wonderful job, and most of those same kids came to the festival. I was able to dance in the festival several times and it was pretty incredible. Dance can communicate so much more than words. When we finished, a middle aged woman came up to me (Mariska) and told me how much she enjoyed the dancing. I asked her if she was from the church, and she said yes. The church in Lushjne is VERY discouraged. Many of the members think that if no one is open to hearing about God, then why should they even try. After one week, I can tell why they would feel that way! Mariska very tearful, and I told her that we were in prayer for the church, and we wanted them to feel encouraged to learn, study the bible, and reach out to their community. She leaned in and whispered-the dancing encouraged me to love God more; I want to be closer to Him. That is a serious praise!!
